（中央社里約熱內盧10日綜合外電報導）澳洲泳將查默斯（Kyle Chalmers）今天在男子100公尺自由式奪金，一吐澳洲長達48年來在奧運泳池遲遲拿不下金牌的怨氣。

這位剛出爐的18歲世界冠軍以相當微小的領先差距，在第7水道用手觸及牆壁的剎那，澳洲家鄉可說為之震動。

他繳出個人最佳成績47.58秒，僅領先銀牌的比利時選手狄默斯（Pieter Timmers）0.22秒，以及第3名、上屆倫敦奧運金牌美國選手艾德瑞安（NathanAdrian）0.27秒。

澳洲上次在奧運游泳項目拿到金牌遠在1968年，由溫德（Mike Wenden）在墨西哥市舉辦的奧運中奪得。
